Zero to Five Case Study
Together with LAS Visions, based in Missoula, MT, we are conducting a collaborative and participatory evaluation of the Headwaters Foundation’s Zero to Five Initiative, a six-year, $13 million investment in Western Montana intended to spark policy and systems change at the local and statewide levels. Headwaters is deeply committed to trust-based practices, which aligns with our commitment to center and honor the voices and experiences of those who have been involved throughout the Initiative in our evaluation. Headwaters commissioned the evaluation as a case study to support deep reflection and share learnings with other foundations interested in funding similar endeavors.
Kim: This project is an opportunity for me to work in my home state, and hear about the lessons learned to support early childhood that echo and contrast with our experiences in Oregon. I’m invigorated and inspired by how Montana is supporting early learning and I really admire Headwaters’ learning orientation!
Madeline: I love that we’re working with Lily Sussman (LAS Visions) on this project. Not only is Lily a brilliant partner and evaluator, it’s also part of our vision for TCG – to work closely with others we admire and learn from one another. This initiative is about collective work and collaboration. It feels right that the evaluation honors that spirit.
